Aquarium Guide |
The
Sydney Aquarium is one of the most popular tourist attractions
in Sydney. It is located in Darling Harbour, just a few minutes
from the central business district (CBD) of Sydney.
Visitors are taken through an impressive array of exhibits,
from the cute clownfish (remember the movie Finding Nemo?),
to the playful seals, and the scary sharks that swim above
visitors in the walk-through shark displays.
The Sydney Aquarium was first opened in 1988, making it one
of the oldest in the world. It is compared to other great
aquariums like those in Osaka, Japan and Monterey, USA.
Even though the experience entertaining and fascinating, the
people at the Sydney Aquarium have a strong commitment to
conservation and environmental awareness. Throughout the exhibits
there is plenty of educational material explaining the problems
of pollution and the environmental impact that man is inflicting.
Their message of caring for the environment is backed up by
the many research, conservation, and training programs that
they regularly partake in.
Be prepared to spend at least a couple hours browsing the
many aquariums and exhibits. There are an estimated 11,000
animals at the Sydney Aquarium!
